Castle & Canyon Escape
Start your journey at Union Jack Moto and set off southwest toward the historic town of Florence, known for its charming antique shops and rich past. From there, cruise to Canon City, where the sweeping beauty of the landscape and the iconic Royal Gorge await. Prepare for some off-road thrills as you venture onto the rugged Old Coal Grade road, winding your way toward Silver Cliff and Westcliffe, both nestled in the breathtaking Wet Mountain Valley with views of the towering Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
After soaking in the views, take the serene Rosita Road south, where open fields and quiet backroads lead you to McKenzie Junction. From here, it’s a short hop to one of Colorado’s hidden gems: Bishop’s Castle. This massive, hand-built stone fortress rises from the mountains like a scene from a fairy tale, offering plenty of nooks to explore and a view that’s worth the ride alone.
Next, head down CR78 into the enchanting village of Beulah, surrounded by lush forests, before riding east toward Pueblo. As you pass through the city, check on the current status of **Overton Road**, which has restricted access. Once you’re back on track, hop onto the interstate for a brief stretch before exiting at Piñon. Cross over Fountain Creek and reconnect with Overton Road for a peaceful ride through the open countryside.
The final stretch brings you back north toward Union Jack Moto, completing a loop filled with hidden treasures, scenic beauty, and a mix of both well-known landmarks and Colorado’s best-kept secrets. With so much to explore along the way, this route easily transforms into a two-day adventure, perfect for camping at San Isabel National Forest, where you can enjoy a peaceful night under the stars. Whether you're a history buff, outdoor enthusiast, or just in search of a stunning ride, this route has something for everyone. It’s the ultimate weekend getaway into the heart of Colorado’s wild beauty.
