RIDER MAGAZINE: Colorado River Glyphs (NV, CA, AZ)
This 182-mile mostly paved route begins in Laughlin, Nevada. It follows State Route 163 to Grapevine Canyon, which includes a short 4-mile out-and-back on a well-maintained dirt road (ridable on a streetbike, but use caution) to a trailhead with a short hike to view petroglyphs. It follows Needles Highway south into California and joins Interstate 40 at Needles, crosses the Colorado River, and then turns south on SR-95 to Lake Havasu City. It continues south to the Bill Williams River National Wildlife Refuge, then goes to the Blythe Intaglios, a group of human, animal, and spiral geoglyphs, which includes another short ride on an unpaved road. The route continues south and ends in Ehrenberg, Arizona. This route was published as part of the Favorite Ride feature "Art of the Ancients" in the December 2025 issue of Rider.
