Eje Cafetero | Quindío: Exploring Salento
Departing from the Quimbaya Museum of Gold in the 'miracle city' of Armenia, Quindío, the twisty road to the town of Salento, a well known coffee town, will not disappoint. This route leads you to the 'Mirador de Salento', an outlook just at the edge of town where you can contemplate the Cocora Valley and its beautiful surrounding hills filled with wax palm, the Colombian national tree. You can take a quick hike up to the 'Alto de la Cruz' where you can overlook the entire town. Here, a set of steps lead to the 'Calle Real', a street with well preserved colonial architecture, and building facades of all colors and flavors! You can also continue to follow the route into the Cocora Valley and its numerous attractions instead. Either way, come into town at night and witness how its streets and people come to life after dark!
