This 453-mile paved route begins in Denver, Colorado, and takes a roundabout route to Aspen, Colorado – including State Routes 470 and 82 and U.S. Routes 284 and 24 – before taking Interstate 70 into Utah and taking Utah State Route 128, also known as the Upper Colorado River Scenic Byway, to Moab. From there, sidetrips include Arches National Park, Dead Horse Point State Park, and Canyonlands National Park via U.S. Route 191 and State Route 313. Other highlights include South Park City Museum, Red Cliffs Lodge, Moab Museum of Film and Western Heritage, and Moab Red Stone Inn.
