Eje Cafetero | Combia: Monte Jazmin & El Alto del Nudo
Nested in the city of Pereira, the capital of the Coffee Region, is conceivably this town's most predominant geographical feature: the "Alto del Nudo". A ridge that steeply climbs from 4,600ft to over 6800ft in elevation. It's the most wonderful view of the entire city. It is also the origin of many streams and its fertile soil host many coffee farms. Make sure to drop by the local coffee farm Monte Jazmin, where you can experience coffee from the raw bean, to a freshly brewed cup of genuine Colombian coffee (montejazmin.com), before continuing your trip up the mountain. NOTE: Most cars will make it up to Monte Jazmin (it is mostly paved and hard pack gravel), but beyond that some steep, rocky hills will be awaiting those looking for a challenge, adventure, and a magnificent view.
