This 178-mile paved route begins in Umatilla, Florida, and continues north on State Route 19 into the heart of the Ocala National Forest. The Black Bear Scenic Byway forms a cross. The route continues west on State Route 40 to Silver Springs, then backtracks to Route 19. It continues north on Route 19 to Palatka, then backtracks to Salt Springs. It continues east on National Forest Roads 47 and 29 and takes a ferry across the St. John's River. The route continues on State Route 309 to Crescent City, south on U.S. Route 17 to Barberville, then west again until it reconnects with Route 19.
